Production diary

My contribution to the team was being an actor, most of the time i left because my scene wasn't yet. So what i did individual was plan out what i was going to say if i was speaking, and i planned what i was gonna do if i was doing something else. I had to put my mind focused on my work, cause i didn't want anything to slip up within performing what i needed to do.

At times when my group had meetings, things started to tumble down. As everybody wanted their point to be heard, and things started to get way out of hand at times. I felt upset by the things that turned out in the acting cause everyone kept changing things, and the more it changed the more aggravated i got at it. And this affected me dearly cause we was running out of time, and also i had the heart to leave the group and just do other bits of work. Just because things got that out of hand. But the group itself needed stabilization, that's why i noticed the action plan was so important.

The film noir looks alright, but i personally think it would have been better if it just stuck with one idea instead of rolling around onto different peoples ideas. It was actually quite irritating.

Pre production

What is pre production?

Pre production is all about planning, and the work, which is planned to make a good, positive, set back on the shoots, film and the work produced as a whole. My role within the film was being an actor, so what I had to put that on the action plan to symbolise that, that was my role throughout the film production. The action plan is something that shows what a person assigned them self to do. For example our director in the film noir was Sheniz.

There was certain times that when I had to act everybody was all over the place, but at the end everyone came to a conclusion to just get the work done, cause that’s all that was asked of us at the end of the day. The action plan was made the first time, than when things started to get out of control with roles. It was changed. So everything and everyone’s role was changed.

My role wasn’t changed as I was an actor beforehand, and so people’s roles had to be more constructed and choreographed. Whilst being a part of this team I noticed that everybody wanted their points and views to be heard over everyone else’s and it was quite annoying but that’s the point of the action plan as a confirmed clarification of work.

Zoetropes

What is the zoetrope & how does it work?

A zoetrope is a device that produces an illusion within the action that is being made. But this illusion is only made when it's spun. The zoetrope was made in 1834 by William Horner, William called the zoetrope 'daedalum' (meaning 'wheel of the devil'). The faster the rate the zoetrope is spun, the smoother the progression. But this is also only if you look through the slits in the zoetrope which than you'll be able to see the images moving. The reason why the zoetrope works is because of our vision, which was first noted down by Peter Mark Roget. The illusion breaks when the images we see are interrupted by moments of darkness. The zoetrope is a bit like a cinema, the slits in the side of the zoetrope act like a shutter on a cinema projector.
